Oily Skin

Oily skin happens when large oil (sebaceous) glands produce too much oil, making the skin look shiny and greasy and may also cause breakouts.

For oily skin types, you will still require a moisturiser since oil production is a separate process to the hydration of your skin. Gel based or water based moisturisers are preferred as they leave less residue or oiliness on your skin. You will be able to tolerate more drying ingredients such as glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids.

Regular cleansing is important for removing oil build up which can cause blocked pores and skin damage. Exfoliating Acids like BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) work by gently loosening and removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. They can help reduce inflammation and fight bacteria, which makes them great for people with oily skin and acne.

Key ingredients to look for are Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) which helps regulate oil production, improves skin texture, and has anti-inflammatory properties and Hyaluronic Acid which hydrates the skin without adding extra oil.
